“Let the river do the work.”

What We Do

Specialists.

Trained in the Palmiter Method of stream bank erosion control and remediation.

Ohio Founded. Ohio Experienced.

Founded by Dayton Region residents Bill Holdren and Ron Wine. Both formerly worked for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources managing and working along the Little Miami Scenic River.

Why it works

9

Widely Tried and Tested.

Method developed by NW Ohio native George Palmiter and successfully utilized in hundreds of locations in Ohio, Michigan, Tennessee and North Carolina. Method studied by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Miami University and found effective.
9

The Basics.

Utilizes a combination of natural forces of the stream to re-vector current and the coefficient of deposition to gradually adjust the stream channel to desired location. Labor intensive method utilizing relocation, placement and planting of trees/vegetation to strategic locations to alter stream channel.

CMS Technique.

  • Remove Log Jams
  • Protect Eroded Banks
  • Remove Sand and Gravel Bars
  • Vegetation
  • Remove Obstructions

Eleazer Roadbed and Bridge Protection

Greene Co. Engineer’s Office hired CMS to fix an extremely difficult stream realignment and erosion control problem. Painters Creek had eroded to a point that it was parallel to the roadway and bridge rather than its original 90-degree perpendicular position. CMS worked with the local property owners to naturally redirect Painters Creek to stop roadbed erosion and realign the stream channel and restore stream function to prevent bridge scouring and undermining.

Before

Before the project the river is looking like the stream has shifted parallel to the bridge with very severe erosion that is undercutting the roadbed.

Installation

CMS installed and anchored several current kickers and sedimentation basins to alter the stream flow to re-establish the outside turn streambank

After

After several floods, the new streambank is beginning to form on the south bank (right) and the channel has shifted to realign Painters Creek to perpendicular with the bridge.
